Welcome to the TechnasiumThe Technasium is a unique program that provides teachers and students with the tools and support to integrate informational technologies into the Ontario curriculum. It is a physical and virtual learning space. The Technasium has 1:1 computers, laptops, iPads, a Green Screen studio, recording studio and digital cameras, 3D printer, Arduino kids, Lego Robotics etc. Teachers and students will have the opportunity to explore and develop 21st Century skills that can be used in other classes, at home and often on their BYOD devices. Students will focus on the six Cs developed by Michael Fullan; character, digital citizenship, communication, critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration and creativity while immersed in a digital environment. Digital portfolios and student reflections will accumulate throughout the year with a focus on strategies used, metacognition and the impact media literacy has on our society. The Substitution Augmentation Modification Redefinition (SAMR) model, developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura, will be a strong motivating factor in enhancing great inquires and problem based learning programming at Edenwood Middle School. The use of informational and educational technology will be taught in an effort to enhance teaching and learning in all subjects area.
